Being a 21st century Janeite is hard. I have to constantly remind myself to say “Thanks” instead of “I am obliged,” describe people as “nice” instead of “very agreeable,” tell people I play the “piano” and not the “pianoforte,” and remember that males don’t act like proper gentlemen anymore.
